Elmore County Public Schools is pleased to announce that registration for First Class Pre-K opens February 1, 2018. First Class: Alabama's Voluntary Pre-K is part of the Office of School Readiness within the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. First Class Pre-K provides effective, high-quality early childhood experiences that prepare Alabama's children for school success and lifelong learning.

 

For First Class Pre-K, the registered child must be 4 on or before September 2, 2018. Registration is open February 1 –  March 23, 2018, and must be completed online. Online registration may be accessed at https://alprek.asapconnected.com.

 

Acceptance to the program is through a random selection process which will be conducted on March 28, 2018, in the Elmore County Board of Education Board Meeting Room at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public. Families do not have to be present in order to receive a placement.

 

Elmore County Public Schools has First Class Pre-K classrooms at Coosada Elementary School and Wetumpka Elementary School. Children who are residents of Elmore County may be registered at either or both sites, regardless of school attendance zones. Transportation will not be provided by the school system. Children will not be denied participation on the basis of income, sex, race, color, national origin, or disability. There is no registration fee for the program; minimal monthly tuition of $40 per child will be charged.

The documents required to register children for First Class Pre-K – proof of residence and birth certificate – can be uploaded when the parent registers the child online. However, there will likely be A LOT of parents who need to provide hard copies.

 

 Copies must be provided by the registration deadline of March 23.

  • Copies may be dropped off at your schools (please keep copies in a folder for 2018-2019 First Class Pre-K and make sure that the name of the child is noted on the documentation).
  • Any copies you collect will come to me no later than Monday, March 26.
  • Copies may be dropped off or mailed to me at the Central Office.
